The next business featured in our new blog series is Creative Steps Dance Studio. The owner, Michelle Shirley, took time to answer our questions.
Boston Tutoring Services: How long have you been in business?
Michelle Shirley: We have been in business for 12 years.
BTS: Which age groups of children most commonly visit/attend?
MS: We offer dance classes for ages 2 through 18.
BTS: Can you tell us more about the services/programs that you offer?
MS: The philosophy of our school is to offer dance classes to kids and make it as fun as possible. We want our dancers to learn proper dance technique all while also building their self esteem, creating friendships, and working on teaching poise and grace. Our most important goal is to make sure all students feel good about themselves and have fun! We offer dance lessons in pre ballet, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, musical theatre, and more!
BTS: What sets you apart from other similar businesses?
MS: I believe we are different because our program allows a month to month payment plan. Parents are not locked into an entire year of classes. We accept new enrollment at anytime in the year as well as allow drop outs. Parents really seem to like our laid back policies and our low key stress free atmosphere that we create for them and their children.
BTS: What do you enjoy most about working with children?
MS: We love working with children because their energy is contagious and their smiles light up a room! We love seeing kids come back to our studio year after year. Watching them master skills is a joy because they are so proud of what they can do.
