Austin says: “My name is Austin Cosgrove. I am 23 years old, born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. I graduated from Allegheny College in 2015 with a degree in Biochemistry and Global Health Studies. In college, I was published in the Journal of Community Medicine for a retrospective secondary analysis and health needs assessment of my rural college town. Aside from academic research, I was an active member of the student government, choreographed for the student-run dance company, and studied abroad in Kenya. I moved to Boston August ’15 to complete a year of service as a City Year AmeriCorps member. I had the privilege to serve as an academic tutor, mentor, and behavioral coach to 40 7th grade students at the Trotter Innovation School in Dorchester, MA. I tutored and scaffolded lessons plans for English Language Arts and Mathematics. Currently, I am working as a Research Assistant at Harvard Medical School/Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. I hope to pursue a career in Epidemiology/Public Health. Some of my interests include dance and choreography, hiking, and literature. I look forward to working with your student in helping them to reach their goals.”
