Educational and Fun Apps to Try

It’s no secret that today’s kids are tech savvy. From the time they’re born they watch everyone around them fiddle with phones, computers, tablets, and the like. So it should be no surprise that they take an interest too. This year, instead of letting them play the newest game, try these apps which are educational, fun and most importantly; parent approved!

Ages 5 &under:

  • Moose Math: an introduction to math including addition, subtraction, sorting and basic geometry.
  • Spell with Pip ($3.99): a fun spelling game which helps kids learn over 3,000 commonly misspelled  words.

Ages 6-8:

  • Math Jungle ($1.99): Run through the forest collecting bananas and answering simple math problems as you go.
  • Bookster: (Free) Children can read their favorite books ($3 each) with the help of parents or listen to it being narrated by kids their own age. They learn new vocabulary words as they listen, and can even record themselves reading it.

Ages 9-12:

  • Slice It! (Free-.99): A geometry based game where children have to slice everyday shapes into a certain number of pieces in order to gain a better understanding of geometry and mathematical comprehension skills.
