MA Food Banks Accepting Holiday Donations for Families in Need

.Now is the time to remember those in need! Food banks all over Massachusetts are now accepting donations. Please consider getting into the spirit of giving and help those who really need it. You can either make a monetary donation or collect food to drop off at a food bank.
Recommended donation items include cereal, oatmeal, rice, beans, low sodium soup, stew, chili, pasta, low sugar canned fruits, canned tuna and chicken, peanut butter and jelly, chicken or beef broth, low sodium canned vegetables, granola bars, and nuts. Items MUST NOT be perishable or beyond their expiration date.
Here are some different food banks in Massachusetts to which we hope you’ll consider donating:
The Greater Boston Food Bank–$20 provides 5 holiday meals! Food donations can be dropped off at the GBFB warehouse located at 70 S Bay Ave, Boston, MA 02118, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-2:30pm. When you arrive at GBFB, please check in with the receptionist first, and he or she will be able to assist you in making your donation. Click here to donate online.
Merrimack Valley Food Bank–The MVFB is currently offering free admission to Saturday morning screenings of classic holiday movies between November 25th and December 16th! All you need to do is donate one non-perishable food item. Donations can be dropped off at the MVFB located at 735 Broadway Street, Lowell, MA 01854. They are open Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm. Worcester County Food Bank–The WCFB is currently running a Thanksgiving fund drive to end hunger now. If you wish to donate food, the address of the WCFB is 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545. Drop offs can be made Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-3:30pm, but please call ahead to schedule an appointment. Upon arrival, back vehicle up to the loading dock door closest to the steps. Then enter the warehouse through the door marked Donations & Deliveries and a WCFB staff member will assist you with unloading your vehicle. Click here to donate online.
The Food Bank of Western MA–The level of hunger in Western Massachusetts remains high, and the FBWM needs your help now more than ever. To make a donation, visit the FBWM at 97 N Hatfield Rd, Hatfield, MA 01038, Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm. Click here to donate online.
