.In our Summer Reading Series for 2019, we will be featuring the summer reading programs of public libraries in different towns from all over Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. Let’s take a look at the Leominster Public Library’s Summer Reading Program.
The Leominster library has so much going on this summer for kids of all ages. There truly is something for everyone! Here are some of the fun events planned for the summer in Leominster.
Family Fun Night Finale – Spectacular Science Show with Kosmic Kelley. Monday June 10, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM: Families are invited to join us on Monday, June 10, at 6pm, for an exciting, educational, and interactive science show, featuring all of the best experiments! There will be fizzy rainbow volcanoes, elephant toothpaste, bubbling beakers, and more! Sponsored by Project Apples, CFCE, in conjunction with the Friends of the Leominster Public Library.
Out of This World: Aliens! Monday June 24, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM: Children ages 3-7 are invited to join us and listen to the stories I Want to Be an Astronaut by Byron Barton and Alistair in Outer Space by Marilyn Sadler. Afterwards, each child will make their own alien to go with them on out of this world adventures! Sponsored by a Grant from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Summer Reading Kick-Off with Animal Adventures! Tuesday June 25, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM: Families are invited to join us for our Summer Reading Kick-Off with Animal Adventures! We’ll see a variety of animals from around the world including a bearded dragon, wallaby, North America porcupine, chinchilla, hedgehog, alligator and more. Sponsored by Rollstone Bank & Trust, Corporate Sponsor of the Friends of the Leominster Public Library.
Jungle Jim: A Ballooniverse of Stories. Wednesday July 10, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM: This space-themed balloon magic show features rocket propulsion science and celebrates the moon landing. The show also includes Star Wars Jedi Traning and a 6-foot galaxy explosion! This program is supported in part by a grant from the Leominster Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, and Aaron Industries, Corporate Sponsor of the Friends of the Leominster Public Library.
ScienceTellers presents Aliens: Escape from Earth! Monday July 22, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM: Discover the unbelievable world of science through experiments, with chemical reactions, polymers, pressure, inertia, energy, explosions, and so much more. Don’t miss this action-packed alien adventure. It’s totally out this world! Sponsored by a generous donation from Digital Credit Union.
The Boston Museum of Science presents: Science Magic! Wednesday August 7, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM: Children ages 4 and up can explore how magic tricks really work. This program investigates the science behind the ‘magic” of several classic magic tricks. Audience members might learn how to snatch a tablecloth without disturbing the items on top, make a balloon fireproof, and use electromagnetism to defy gravity. For the grand finale, a Museum Educator demonstrates how science can make it safe to lie down on a real bed of nails! This program is sponsored by a scholarship from the Boston Museum of Science.
Summer Reading Finale: Mad Science Presents Destination Moon. Thursday August 15, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM: Children and families are invited to join us for our Summer Reading Finale as Mad Science presents Destination: Moon! Ignite your imagination with fun and learning as we experience space vacuum, principles of flight, spinoff technology and even astronaut training. This highly interactive program is full of space-filling wow! This program is sponsored by a generous donation from Digital Federal Credit Union.
