Keep Your Kids Busy This Summer in West Boylston

In our Summer Reading Series for 2019, we will be featuring the summer reading programs of public libraries in different towns from all over Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. Let’s take a look at the Beaman Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program in West Boylston.

The theme for our Summer Reading this year is Space. We hope you will join us for:
 A presentation about the Apollo Mission and the 50 th anniversary of the first Lunar landing by the
Aldrich Astronomical Society
 Cook Book Club will be making “out of this world” food!
 Nonfiction Book Discussion group will read Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly
 Summer movie series will be space themed
 Check out our Library telescope
 And much more!
Even our collaborative Library scavenger hunt is Space themed. Start at our Library, pick up a map, and then travel through space to visit 12 participating neighboring libraries near West Boylston! Each Library has an activity planned for you.

Don’t forget! Thanks to a gift from the College of the Holy Cross our Summer Saturday hours are 9-Noon for the months of June, July and August. West Boylston also has fun-filled summer reading programs for teens and adults.

Summer reading for kids begins Tuesday, June 18. A Universe of Stories is our summer reading theme this year! We are still welcoming summer reading prizes to help support all our young readers! Donations are tax deductible and they don’t need to be large prizes. We welcome bubbles, chalk, Lego sets, board games, etc.! If your child likes something, someone else will also enjoy it and it motivates the struggling reader to read a little more to try to win it! Menard’s Auto Body of West Boylston is donating a children’s bike (valued up to $150) of their choice to one lucky winner! In addition to fun raffle prizes, we will have Make It, Take It crafts (sponsored by the Webster First Federal Credit Union of West Boylston) each week, story time, and lots of programming to fill your summer with free fun! Reading throughout the summer is crucial in keeping kids from getting “rusty” until they go back to school! Sign up for Summer Reading and have your picture taken in our Photo Booth! We will have all the props out to make you feel “spacey”! This Photo Booth will be available from June 18-June 22. We will post your pictures on our Facebook page.
