Keep Your Kids Busy This Summer in Woburn

In our Summer Reading Series for 2019, we will be featuring the summer reading programs of public libraries in different towns from all over Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. Let’s take a look at the Woburn Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, A Universe of Stories.

The Woburn Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is for infants through elementary students–all are invited to participate! The program runs from June 17th through August 16th. Keep track of your reading and attend programs. Outdoor programs may be cancelled or postponed (see rain dates) in the event of rain. If the weather is poor, please check our website or call the library to confirm. Woburn’s Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Friends of the Woburn Public Library, the Woburn Public Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and the Boston Bruins.

The Woburn Public Library has many fun events planned for the summer! Check some of them out below:
A Universe of Crafts: Galaxy Slime (Ages 6-12): TUESDAY, JULY 16, 2:30—3:30 PM. Join us each week for a variety of activities, from science experiments to crafts to engineering challenges. This week we’ll do a space-inspired take on a favorite activity: SLIME!
Blastoff to the Moon! A VR Expedition (Ages 5-10): WEDNESDAY, JULY 17, 10:00—11:00 AM. It’s the 50th anniversary of the first person on the moon! Come see what it’s like! Using our new virtual reality goggles, take a trip to the moon. 10 people per shuttle, but others will have an opportunity to hear a story and craft your own spacecraft.
A Universe of Crafts: Galaxy Shirts (Ages 6-12): TUESDAY, JULY 302:30—3:30 PM. This week, we’ll create our own galaxy shirts!
A Universe of Crafts: Constellation Lamps (Ages 6-12): TUESDAY, AUGUST 6, 2:30—3:30 PM. This week, learn about constellations and create your very own constellation jar.
Escape From Rogue Planet! Escape Room for Teens (GRADES 6-12): TUESDAY, AUGUST 13, 2:30—3:30 PM. Join us for Escape from Rogue Planet hosted by Wicked Fun Games! Registration Required.
End of Summer Reading Glow-in-the-Dark Party (all ages): SATURDAY, AUGUST 17, 11:30 AM—12:30 PM. Celebrate all the reading you’ve done! Bring in your bingo boards, get your passes, and come have fun with glow-in-the-dark excitement! All summer reading participants are welcome.
