.Boston Tutoring Services is proud to support local libraries. Check out the fun-filled holiday events taking place at the Ashland Library below.
LAP SIT: Wednesdays mornings from 10:15-10:45 a.m. For Infants and Toddlers through age 3 ½. Join us for stories, songs and fingerplays. This is a very large group and space is limited. Free tickets are handed out as people arrive. We also hold Lap Sit one Saturday each month.
READ-TO-A-DOG: Kids can improve their oral reading skills by reading to one of our certified therapy dogs. Space is limited. The dogs are here between 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Each child has a 10 minute turn and time slots are assigned upon arrival. Choose your own book to read. Read to Knives or Machete on Mondays (Nov. 4 & 18). Read to Cosmo on Wednesdays (Nov. 20). Read to Bear on Thursdays (Nov. 14).
S.T.E.A.M. STORY TIMES: Friday mornings from 10:30-11:15 a.m. For kids age 3 ½ – 6. Space is limited – free tickets are handed out as people arrive. Each week we read stories and non-fiction books about one topic and do a related activity. November topics include “Shapes”, “Fireflies”, “Farms”, and “Giraffes”.
ART & ECOLOGY: Friday, Nov. 22nd 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Kids in Grades 2 – 5 can come learn about conservation and taking care of the planet and make related craft project. Topic to be announced. Space is limited.
YMCA PLAY, LEARN & GROW: Tuesdays 11:00 – 12:00 or Thursdays 11:00 – 12:00. Infants through age 5. You may attend one program per week. Sensory play, music, stories, crafts, socialization and more. This is a large group and space is limited. Free tickets are handed out as people arrive – this program often fills before 11:00. MOM’S CLUB LITTLE CRAFTERS: Monday, Nov. 18 th 10:15–11:15 a.m. The Mom’s Club of Ashland and the Friends of the Library offer a story & craft program for infants–age 5 on the third Monday of each month. Adult caregivers are asked to participate with the children.
FAMILY JIGSAW PUZZLE CHALLENGE: Saturday, November 30th 11:00 – 4:00 p.m. Our Puzzle Challenge this summer was so much fun that we decided to repeat it. Bring your out-of-town guests along and come see how fast your group can put together a puzzle. The puzzles have between 200-500 pieces. You choose your start time – last start time will be at 2:00 p.m. Please allow a minimum of one hour for this program – your group might take longer to complete your puzzle.
