Emmaus–Please Give Back for the Holidays

Are you willing to spread the holiday cheer this year? Boston Tutoring Services is happy to promote organizations who help people in need. There are plenty of fantastic organizations that give all of us the chance to give back, and the holidays are always a time of year in which people need some extra help. Today we are featuring Emmaus, “where everybody matters.”

Emmaus is an organization that seeks to serve all people in need—the homeless, disadvantaged, disabled, unemployed, and oppressed. Their goal is to enhance societal and personal advancement through provision of housing and support services that empower individuals and families to reach their fullest potential. Emmaus helps people rebuild their lives by creating and renewing a sense of community.

Here are some ways you can get involved:

Visit the Emmaus Tree of Love: This year, our “Tree of Love” will be displayed in the lobby of Harbor Place in Haverhill. Come visit Emmaus staff and volunteers at our tree during the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Stroll on Friday, Dec. 6 from 5:00 – 8:00PM.

Holiday Gift and Food Drives: Please consider donating food, gift cards, and wish list items to Emmaus. This year we are requesting gift cards with denominations of $25 or less to local stores such as CVS, Wal-Mart, Target, Rite-Aid, Walgreens, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Market Basket. Please contact our Volunteer and Gifts In-Kind Manager Denise Arnold at 978-377-0639 or at darnold@emmausinc.org BEFORE starting any major holiday donation drive at your workplace, faith community, school, or service club so that we can anticipate and plan for your donations.
