Fun-Filled August Activities in the Boston Area

With COVID-19 restrictions starting to ease up in the New England area, there are lots of activities planned for August this year. Check out our list of fun-filled August activities happening around Boston, and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Beverly Homecoming Days
When: Wed 8/4/21 – Sun 8/8/21
Where: Beverly, MA
Age: all ages
Over 40 events over the course of 4 fun-filled days for everyone to enjoy all around Beverly. Plan on traditional favorites such as LobsterFest, fireworks display, concerts, a movie night, and some new additions. The annual Beverly Homecoming generally offers concerts, a carnival, contests, picnics, flea markets, barbecues, arts shows, and more!

Revere Beach Sand Castle Sculpting Festival
When: Fri 8/6/21 – Sun 8/8/21
Where: Revere Beach
Age: all ages
Cost: free
The Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival is one of the largest sand sculpting festivals in the world! Master sand sculptors come from all over the world to compete. This year’s event is on – in a modified format – so we can look forward to lots of live entertainment, children’s and sculpting lessons and much more.

Bolton Fair 2021
When: Fri 8/13/21 – Sun 8/15/21
Where: 318 Seven Bridge Road, Lancaster, MA
Time: 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. daily
Age: all ages
Cost: Adults: $10, Seniors: $6, Age 5 – 12: $5, Military Personnel: $5. Age 4 and under are free
Held over 3 days on 53 acres of beautiful grounds, the Bolton Fair is the quintessential New England Fair with old fashion fun for the entire family. The Fair is where friends, agriculture, education and creativity unite. Attractions include: Lumber Jack Show, Demolition Derby, FMX and Monster Trucks, Kid’s Country, petting farm, livestock exhibits, midway rides, bands, fiddlers, horse and oxen pull, tractor pulls, fair food, shopping, crafters, exhibits, and farmers’ market.

Thunder in the Valley Festival
When: Sat 8/14/21
Where: Park Hill Orchard, Easthampton, MA
Time: 1:30 P.M. to 10 P.M.
Age: all ages
Cost: $20 each + $4 service fee
Tired of being cooped up? This August, it’s time to get out there. Join in a day of local and international bands, gourmet food frucks, The Beer Guy, games, special guests and fireworks. Proceeds to benefit the Childrens Miracle Network @ Baystate Childrens Hospital.

Marshfield Fair 2021
When: Fri 8/20/21 – Sun 8/29/21
Where: 140 Main St., Marshfield, MA
Age: all ages
Cost: $12.00 (children 6 & under free)
The 153rd annual Marshfield Fair is fast approaching! This yearly Agricultural Fair in August draws hundreds of competitors in 4-H, arts and crafts, agricultural and horticultural events. The Marshfield Agricultural and Horticultural Society, sponsors of the Marshfield Fair, is dedicated to making this the premier event of Southeastern Massachusetts.

Boston Greenfest 2021
When: Fri 8/20/21 – Sun 8/22/21
Where: 70 Rowes Wharf, Boston, MA
Time: 12 P.M. to 6 P.M. daily
Age: all ages
Cost: free
Boston GreenFest is an award-winning multicultural environmental music festival in its 14th year with 3 days LIVE on the Rose Kennedy Greenway and more programs online. Come see 30-40 interactive exhibits for all ages, along with eco-vendors, world cuisines, and more. Try out an electric vehicle, listen to some great music, see an EcoFashion Show unlike any other (Sat at 4 pm), join fun games, activities, art, dance, Zumba, yoga and whatever else we can pack into three days!

Green River Festival
When: Fri 8/27/21 – Sun 8/29/21
Where: 89 Wisdom Way, Greenfield, MA
Time: Fri 4 P.M. to 11 P.M., Sat 12 P.M. to 11 P.M., Sun 12 P.M. to 8 P.M.
Age: all ages
Cost: varies but kids under 10 are free
The Green River Festival is jam packed with music and activities for the entire family including Curious George, a family drum circle, instrument petting zoo, and more! A two day, three stage event with the best national talent, the greatest local food and fine crafts, the most beautiful hot air balloons, and so much more. Enjoy crafts and music at The Art Garden tent and stage, A-Z’s Yo Yo Team, a family sing and drum circle, the yearly Mardi Gras Parade tradition, tethered hot air balloon rides, Curious George, and carnival games at The Art Garden Arcade.
