Make the most of the rest of your summer as we wind down towards the fall! Check out our list of fun-filled events and activities happening around Boston in August 2022.

August Adventures with Highland Street Foundation

August Adventures returns! During the month of August 2022, we are excited to partner with special Massachusetts cultural institutions to provide one free activity each day for 31 days. Along with no-cost admission to zoos, museums, and carousels, Out of the Park with the Boston Red Sox and City of Boston returns on August 7th. Other events this summer include visits to gardens, swan boats, and a wildlife sanctuary.

Mayor’s Summer Movie Nights in the Parks
When: Tues 8/2, Tues 8/9, Mon-Wed 8/15-17, Mon-Tues 8/22-23, Thurs 8/25, Mon-Tues 8/29-30

Cost: free
In parks citywide, Bostonians can enjoy popular films under the night skies with this popular series. Mayor’s Movie Nights are part of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s ParkARTS program. They are held in August and September at Boston area parks, and shows begin at dusk. Free popcorn will be provided by AMC Loews Theatres. Come join us for movies under the stars in Boston parks this August.

Peach and Tractor Festival
When: Sat-Sun 8/13-14, Sat-Sun 8/20-21
Where: Amesbury
Age: all ages
Cost: free
A celebration of all things sunshine, tractors and peaches! The multi-weekend event will feature free live music, outdoor hard cider bar, family-friendly activities, hayrides, touch-a-truck, food truck specials, homemade peach treats, and pick-your-own peaches. Entrance to the festival is free and includes free live music on Saturdays and Sundays 12-3 pm as well as barnyard, play areas, farm store. Open 8am-5pm weekends. Does not include food, drink and pick-your-own.

Spiderman: No Way Home–Movies on the Common
When: Thurs 8/18
Where: Worcester Common
Age: kids, teens
Cost: free
Join the City of Worcester on Thursday, August 18th downtown at the Worcester Common for the second installment of this season’s “Movies on the Common” series. Swing into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and join Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, as he faces new and old foes. The movie will begin at sundown, though movie-goers may want to arrive as early as 6:30pm to select their seats. Available space is on a first-come, first serve-basis. Attendees may bring their own blankets or chairs or use seating available on the Common. Refreshments can be purchased on-site, or attendees can bring their own. English closed captioning available for the Deaf and hard of hearing.

Marshfield Fair 2022
When: Fri 8/19 through Sun 8/28 daily
Where: Marshfield

The 153rd annual Marshfield Fair is fast approaching! This yearly Agricultural Fair draws hundreds of competitors in 4-H, arts and crafts, agricultural and horticultural events. The Marshfield Agricultural and Horticultural Society, sponsors of the Marshfield Fair, is dedicated to making this the premier event of Southeastern Massachusetts. We hope everyone who attends the fair will be entertained and educated and that all attendees leave with a greater appreciation of the importance of agriculture and horticulture in our present day society.

Quincy August Moon Festival
When: Sun 8/21
Where: Quincy Center

The Quincy August Moon Festival is a momentous holiday that celebrates the harvest and the moon as symbols of prosperity, happiness and unity in Asian culture. 2022 year will mark the 32nd anniversary of the festival in Quincy, one of the largest August Moon Festivals in the Northeast, bringing together guests from all over Massachusetts for a celebration of culture and community spirit. Festival attractions include: a sampling of traditional moon cakes; food vendors; exhibitors representing various countries; cultural performances on the main stage; activities for children; and entertainment for elders.The Quincy August Moon Festival is a family event offering entertainment for more than 20,000 guests from all over Massachusetts for a celebration of music, arts, culture, and community spirit.

Annual Boston Ukrainian Festival & Independence Day
When: Sat 8/27
Where:
Age: all ages
Thanks to the community members of Sky Philanthropy and SKY IC , they have been able to:
– Collect and ship over 40,000 lbs of humanitarian aid to Ukraine
– Purchased cars in Ukraine to evacuate children and civilians from the hot war zones.
– Provided housing and support for Ukrainian refugees.
– Organized cultural events and lectures to promote Ukrainian culture.
In order to raise more funds and to mark Ukraine’s Independence, the Unity of the Ukrainian people and their struggle for Freedom, Prosperity, and Dignity, they will be hosting an Annual Ukrainian festival to share and capture the essence of Ukrainian art, music, food, and dance.
