Scholarship opportunities in the state of Massachusetts are available across a range of academic disciplines and vocational outcomes. There are grants and scholarships for those applicants whose needs are based on financial factors. There are also funds available for those with outstanding grades or test scores. GFWC Massachusetts Scholarships
The Massachusetts chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs offers a number of scholarships. GFWC, an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service, is one of the largest and oldest women’s volunteer service organizations. The membership supports advocating for children, domestic violence and sexual assault awareness and prevention, arts and culture, civic engagement and outreach, the environment, education and libraries, and health and wellness.

M. Geneva Gray Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate students whose parental income is too high to qualify for other aid, yet not sufficient to afford to pay for all of their children’s tuition. The family must have more than one child to educate and their income must be between $25,000 and $50,000. Applicants and parents must be residents of Massachusetts.

The Karen Jacobs Scholarship
One scholarship of $500 for a Massachusetts resident enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy educational program in Massachusetts at the professional degree level. One scholarship of $250 for a Massachusetts resident enrolled in an accredited OTA program in Massachusetts. Applicants must be members of the Massachusetts Association for Occupational Therapy.

Paul Tsongas Scholarship Program
The Paul Tsongas Scholarship Program seeks to recognize achievement and reward Massachusetts students who have graduated from high school within three years with a GPA of 3.75 and highly competitive SAT/ACT scores and who also meet the one year residency requirement for tuition classification at the State Colleges.

Reese Fellowship
The Reese Fellowship supports bibliographical research and projects in the history of the book in American culture. The fellowship is funded by the William Reese Company of New Haven, Connecticut. Fellows are selected on the basis of the applicant’s scholarly qualifications, the scholarly significance or importance of the project, and the appropriateness of the proposed study to the Society’s collections. Stipend $1,850 per month.

Stephen Botein Fellowships
These fellowships are for research in the history of the book in American culture. Three months’ residence in the Society ‘s library at stipends of $1,850 per month. Open to individuals at work on doctoral dissertations who are engaged in scholarly research and writing in any field of American history and culture through 1876. Fellows are selected on the basis of the applicant’s scholarly qualifications, the scholarly significance or importance of the project, and the appropriateness of the proposed study to the Society’s collections.

National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship
NEH fellowships are for persons who have already completed their formal professional training. Degree candidates and persons seeking support for work in pursuit of a degree may not hold AAS-NEH fellowships. Fellows are selected on the basis of the applicant’s scholarly qualifications, the scholarly significance or importance of the project, and the appropriateness of the proposed study to the Society’s collections.

Richard & Ethel Koff Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund provides four-year scholarships to graduating seniors from the town of Barnstable intending to further their education in the field of music.

Batson Educational Foundation Scholarships
Scholarship assistance is provided to African American college students who need aid as a supplement to financial aid awards, loans and scholarships. Student grants range between $500 and $1,500. Agnes M. Lindsay Scholarship
The Agnes M. Lindsay Scholarship provides scholarships for students with demonstrated financial need who are from rural areas of Massachusetts and attend public institutions of higher education within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Christian A. Herter Memorial Scholarship Program
The Christian A. Herter Memorial Scholarship Program was established in 1972 by the Massachusetts State Legislature to recruit students in the 10th and 11th grades whose socio-economic backgrounds and environmental conditions may inhibit their ability to attain educational goals. The students that are selected for this program must have overcome major adversity in their lives (i.e. physical or mental abuse, catastrophic illness, etc.). Obstacles may be mental, physical, geographical, or societal.

Horatio Alger State Scholarship
The Horatio Alger Association, through the generosity of its members, provides aid to students in all states who have displayed integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity. Fellows must be enrolled full time as a high school junior and exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution).

Massachusetts High Demand Scholarship Program
The Massachusetts High Demand Scholarship Program was created by MA Legislature to support economic growth and development. The purpose is to encourage degree completion in high demand disciplines like STEM that will help address the workforce needs of the Commonwealth by providing scholarship assistance to support the educational costs of students pursuing such programs of study.

John and Abigail Adams Scholarship
The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship is a merit-based program that provides a credit toward tuition for up to eight semesters of undergraduate education at a Massachusetts state college or university. For this scholarship, merit is based on student scores on the 10th grade Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) test. The purpose of the award is to reward and inspire student achievement, help attract more high-performing students to Massachusetts public higher education, and provide families of college-bound students with financial assistance.

One Family Scholarship Program
The One Family Scholarship Program was established by MA Legislature to assist heads of households in achieving their academic goals. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide the opportunity for a permanent path out of poverty through the pursuit of higher education. Recipients of this scholarship receive an integrated network of services through the non-profit organization, One Family, Inc., whose mission is to serve residents of the Commonwealth who are low-income and homeless, or have experienced homelessness within the prior year.
