February Vacation Week: LEGO Maritime Festival

Let your imagination set sail this February School Vacation Week! Inspired by the different ship designs on display in Masters of Miniature, head to the USS Constitution Museum to build your own ship with LEGO and DUPLO Bricks. In the hands of a creative kid – or kid at heart – a pile of colorful bricks can become an aircraft carrier – or USS Constitution! LEGO builders of all ages, are you ready for nautical fame? For 2023, there are two versions of the annual USS Constitution Museum’s LEGO Ship Shape Competition.

Get Wild during February School Vacation at Zoo New England
When: Sun 2/19/23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The gorilla habitat inside the Tropical Forest at Franklin Park Zoo will be festively decorated with enrichment items for Little Joe’s birthday, and the gorillas will enjoy a special birthday cake handmade by their care team. Gorillas can be seen in the indoor habitat (watch them discover the birthday enrichment and treats). Sign a giant birthday card for Little Joe and enjoy a complimentary cupcake from White’s Bakery, available first come, first served. In honor of Little Joe’s birthday, help gorillas by recycling your old phone or tablet in the collection box by the gorilla habitat.

February School Vacation Week at Franklin Park Zoo

Franklin Park Zoo is your ticket to a wild time during February school vacation week! Winter school break is the perfect time to connect with incredible wildlife and spend a memorable day with family and friends exploring all the Zoo has to offer. All activities are taking place inside the balmy Tropical Forest, where guests will learn about the amazing adaptations of animals during the cold winter months. There will be fun winter-themed activities, crafts, an education station and much more to discover. Franklin Park Zoo’s Tropical Forest, featuring lush greenery and waterfalls, is kept at a balmy 72 degrees year-round and is home to western lowland gorillas, ring-tailed lemurs, ocelots, Baird’s tapirs, a giant anteater and more. This is a great way to visit the Tropics without leaving Boston.

February on the Farm

Having a staycation during February vacation week? Bring your child to Chestnut Hill farm for four days of frosty farm fun! February farm activities could include sledding, making snow friends, visiting lambs, tasting maple syrup, hiking, or making farm and nature-related crafts! Little farmers will come home with stories of adventure, a deeper understanding of where their food comes from, a sense of responsibility, and memories made with new friends (people and animals!). This drop-off program is designed for children in grades kindergarten through 5th. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Children’s Winter Festival on the Boston Common

Looking for some fun and free activities during Boston Public Schools February school vacation week? Mayor Michelle Wu and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department present the annual Children’s Winter Festival on the Boston Common Parade Ground on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free festival will feature activities, treats, and giveaways. This year’s festival will feature music, giveaways, various winter attractions, treats, crafts, and much more! This event is FREE and open to all. Make sure to dress warmly.

Disney On Ice presents Frozen & Encanto
When: Wed 2/22/23 – Sun 2/26/23, 7 p.m.

For the first time, Disney On Ice invites families to step inside the magical adventures of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen and Disney Animation’s Encanto as they come to life like never before. This adventure on ice transports fans into two of the most popular Disney films as audiences can sing-along to their favorite songs while embracing world-class ice skating, aerial acrobatics and more when it visits their hometown at TD Garden from February 22 – 26, 2023. Audiences will see Anna, Elsa, Mirabel, and the Madrigal family live, as well as fan favorites Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy, and many more.
