Senan Tubridy

Education:
Bachelor of Science, Mathematical Science, University of Galway, 2026
Tutor Subjects:
Senan tutors Mathematics and Physics for students in grades 8 to 12 and at undergraduate level. He graduated from the University of Galway with First Class Honours in every year of his degree and was named a University Scholar, the university’s highest academic distinction. His studies covered a wide range of mathematics and physics. He has tutored secondary school students and undergraduates in Ireland, co-founded his university’s public speaking society and was elected class representative in his final year. He prepares his own materials so that sessions focus on what each student actually finds difficult. Additionally, he was a National Road Captain and Cyclist, Mountaineer, Sailor, and Kayak Instructor.
Senan says: “I came to tutoring through my own experience of maths being taught as a set of steps to memorise rather than as something that makes sense, and the moment a student sees why a method works is still the part of the job I like best. I grew up in County Clare on the west coast of Ireland, and alongside school and college I spent seven years on landscaping and construction crews, the last four running a crew of my own. That taught me patience and how to explain something clearly to somebody who is tired, which turns out to be most of tutoring. Outside work I am a cyclist and was road captain of my club at home, I guided and instructed sea kayaking in the Norwegian fjords, and since moving to Boston in September I have been working my way around the reservations and the coast. I am always glad of a recommendation for a good ride or a walk.“
