Shannon specializes in early education, and tutors students in grades K-6 in all subject areas. She also prepares students for the MAP exam. She has extensive experience working with students with special needs, especially ASD, and has worked as an Inclusion Special Education Teacher, a classroom teacher, and a Title I Reading Interventionist. She enjoys developing personalized materials to make her tutoring sessions engaging and interactive. Additionally, she is trained in administering a wide range of assessments in order to personalize her instruction to meet the specific needs of each student.
Shannon says: “It was always a dream of mine to become a teacher and I firmly believe that strong, positive relationships are the foundation for meaningful learning. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and celebrating their successes. I value the unique strengths and learning needs of each student and believe instruction should be individualized to help every child reach their potential. I am passionate about making learning interactive and engaging while helping students build both academic skills and confidence. In addition to being a passionate educator, I am a proud mom to two wonderful children. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, painting and crafting, and spending time outdoors going for walks and hikes with our two dogs.
