He has been teaching for over 20 years at high schools and universities throughout the country. He also worked for 6 years as a school librarian. He supports students in preparing admission essays for private school and college. He is experienced in supporting students in study skills, research skills, and organizational strategies. He is experienced in working with students with a wide range of special needs, including students with ASD. He enjoys developing personalized curriculum to meet the specific needs of his students.
Thomas says: I have been privileged to teach a wide variety of things over the years, in very different environments, which gives me much to share and offer.   I was especially privileged to have been able to develop an excellent thesis research class at a private high school, and to develop excellent bibliographic instruction and study skills classes at both the high school and college level (helped greatly by my additional academic training as a professional librarian), and have adapted my classes for use with various differing student populations.   My educational philosophy tends towards the mastery approach, especially when teaching a foreign language, though to a large extent it still works well for more segmented subjects such as history, caring much less about how much a student has been exposed to, rather than how well he has learned what he has been taught.  This is especially important when I do individual tutoring, where my sole focus is to make sure the student learns, and I adapt my approach as needed to ensure this. All that said,  all work and no play makes me a dull boy.   I am a dedicated fan of the Red Sox and Patriots, and active in social and religious activities.  I especially enjoy regular drives in the country, and my travel experiences include numerous US states and Canadian provinces, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, and especially Germany, where I studied at a university.”
