Education:

PhD, Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Harvard University, 2026

Bachelor of Science, Biology, Spelman College, 2018

Tiara is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Pathology Department at Boston Children’s Hospital where she studies how the immune system can shape brain development. She tutors high school students in Neuroscience, Biology, and Math (Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Geometry, etc.). She also has served as a Teaching Assistant for Neurobiology of Disease Course and Lecturer in the Health Professions Recruitment and Exposure Program at Harvard Medical School.

Beyond the lab, Tiara is a Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholar and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Spelman College, distinctions that reflect her long‑term commitment to academic excellence and perseverance. Her teaching philosophy is student-centered and grounded in a growth mindset: she breaks complex ideas into clear steps, asks guiding questions, and uses active learning so that students don’t just memorize facts but learn how to think critically and solve problems confidently. She has mentored students from high school through graduate school and is especially proud of helping anxious or discouraged learners rediscover their strengths and improve their performance over time. Outside of academics, Tiara played travel soccer for eight years and enjoys soccer, art, music, and traveling to places such as Hawaii, Jamaica, and British Columbia, Canada—experiences that help her connect with students as whole people.”
