She has also taught a space science course in an elementary school through the Berkshire Museum, taught swim lessons during her time as a lifeguard, and worked with students in an academic learning pod. She is experienced in working with students with special needs, including ADHD, ASD, anxiety, and depression.
Bruna says: “I have always loved teaching in informal education settings, starting from helping my peers in school to understand concepts by explaining in creative ways. I skipped 12th grade and started college at 16, culminating in a capstone senior thesis titled “The Efficacy of Acupuncture and Its Implementation into American Healthcare”. I left a career in healthcare including acceptance to an accelerated nursing program to pursue teaching and tutoring full time. Patience and resourcefulness are at the forefront of my teaching toolkit, as I have seen how each individual thrives with personalized techniques and understanding of their needs. In my free time, I like going on walks with my husband and Maltese dog named Albus, teaching yoga to my family and friends, and hope to travel to South America again soon, as my parents are from Brazil and Peru.”
