Jenn tutors students in grades K through 8 in all subject areas. She has extensive experience administering assessments, such as Fountas and Pinnell, DIBELS, Woodcock Johnson, DRA, and many others. She enjoys developing personalized curriculum to meet the individual needs of her students. She prepares students for all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, and MAPs tests. She is special ed certified and experienced in working with students with a wide range of learning needs (especially students with behavioral issues/trauma), both in-person and virtually. She is experienced in working with students on Executive Functioning Skill support. She has prepared students for the MCAS tests. She has extensive experience working with ELL students, and has been teaching English virtually to students in China for the last year.
Jenn says: Hi, my name is Jenn and I am excited to be working with Boston Tutoring Services! I am a dog mom to a boxer named Henley and we both love the beach! You can find us there year round, either soaking up the sun or collecting sea glass! I have been teaching for over 11 years in both general education and special education. Some of my career highlights are writing a tiered intervention program for a school district and running it, becoming certified as a Special Education Director, creating curriculum, needing to complete 1 more year for my PhD, and working with one of the toughest populations of students. I chose the education field because my mother was a teacher and I had a brother with special needs. I saw the challenges and struggles that my family faced with my brother and I wanted to change that for future generations. My philosophy of education is to ensure that every student has an opportunity to receive a quality education, regardless of learning styles or disabilities. Open communication is incredibly important as it shows we are a team together. I look forward to working with your family!”
