.Studies have shown that one-on-one SAT and ACT test prep make a big difference in students’ scores. Students are not prepared by their schools to take this type of test, and good grades are not a measure of how well your child will perform on the SAT or ACT. As the following article describes, preparing your child by registering him or her for one-on-one tutoring allows your child to understand the test-taking strategies involved in taking such a standardized test.
A little test prep can make a big difference
Standardized tests are coachable. Preparation pays off, frequently with big-time results. For years, the creators of the SAT and ACT have insisted that dramatic score increases are unlikely to be realized through coaching. The tests were promoted as a means to measure a student’s innate ability to think and reason critically and therefore were determined to be “uncoachable.” However, students who participate in a well-designed program that helps them to identify, analyze, connect, and find solutions can see substantial improvements in not only their scores but also in their academic habits and grades.
