.October is finally here, and we all know that with it comes the spookiest day of the year; Halloween! Although this holiday is known for being filled with sweet treats, there are many other Halloween activities for kids in Boston. From walking tours to trick or treating with animals, here are some ideas of things to do to get you in the spooky spirit!
Saturday, October 29 & Sunday, October 30, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
General admission rates apply
Join the animals and trick or treat at the zoo, while watching them enjoy some treats of their own! Other activities will include “creepy crafts,” themed games, a costume contest, a haunted maze and collect free treats!
Salem Witch Museum, Salem, MA
Open until 5pm on Weekdays, until 7pm on Weekends and until midnight on 10/28-10/31
Admission: $11 for adults, $8 children 6-14
Come learn about the birthplace of witch trials and see presentations about the changing stereotypes about witches, the persecutions that took place in Salem and much more. Tours occur every half hour from 10am to 4:30 pm.
Ghosts & Gravestones, Boston
Reservations needed
For those with older kids who love being spooked, this tour will tell you “the stories you won’t hear before the sun goes down.” Buy your tickets and take a walking tour to learn about ghosts, haunted buildings and the urban legends that have been collecting for almost 400 years.
Pru Boo! Prudential Center, Boston

$4 Admission fee(Proceeds go to Horizons for Homeless Children)
If hunting for treats outside is not for you, the Prudential center has another option! On the day before Halloween, there will be trick-or-treating at over 50 stores and restaurants, face painting, magic shows, and activities hosted by the New England Aquarium, JFK Library, and The Freedom Trail Foundation. At 1:30 there will be a kid’s concert with Stacey Peasley in the South Garden. Admission includes a free bag to hold all of your yummy treats!
Local Libraries
Check your local library for events being held in the month of October. Many of them host daily events centered around the theme of Halloween.
