Chrissy tutors students in grades 1-6 in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Humanities, and Earth Science. She is experienced in developing personalized materials to make her online tutoring sessions engaging and interactive. She has experience working with students with special needs, especially social-emotional needs, and has previously worked in the social work field with students with a wide range of psychiatric needs. She is also experienced in working with students for whom English is not their first language, and spent an academic year as an English teacher assistant in Spain.
Chrissy says: “My teaching philosophy draws from my experiences in traveling, academics, and my background in social work, which emphasizes social and emotional support. I have been fortunate enough to travel to 5 continents, which provided perspective, expanded my knowledge, and fostered personal growth. On my most recent trip, I spent 3 months in Southeast Asia. During this experience, I learned about diverse cultures and connected with people despite language barriers. I’m passionate about helping students because I empathize with the challenges of balancing school, sports, and extracurricular activities while keeping up academically. I aim to change students’ perceptions of the subjects they struggle with, fostering confidence in their learning. By connecting with students and understanding their learning styles, I tailor my lessons to suit them best.
