Elliott says: “I specialize in the Great Books and am pursuing my Graduate degree in Philosophy. I have been published in academic philosophy journals as well as various online literary journals. I have been honored to be inducted into the Order of the Cross and Crown, Boston College’s oldest and most prestigious honor society, and I have presented my research at Boston College, Emmanuel College, the University of Oklahoma, and the American Academy of Religion. Beyond academics, I am the founder of a humanities debate society, former Editor-in-Chief of an undergraduate philosophy journal, and a co-founder of an independent undergraduate newspaper. My love for teaching grew naturally out of my love for ideas and seeing the joy of intellectual insight. My goal for all my students is to have them reach their own insights about the important questions in their studies, and I think this is best done through the Socratic method. I’ve had two unique travel experiences: 1) Two summers ago, I left the country to hike the Camino de Santiago in Spain. This was an incredible experience to engage in local culture, hike, and philosophize with fellow pilgrims. 2) In addition to Spain, I travelled to Rome, Italy last Fall to participate as a United States delegate to the 39th International Meeting of Religions and Cultures in Dialogue, this is more commonly known as the International Prayer for Peace. This event gathers leading religious and political figures from around the world to discuss global peace building, disarmament, human rights and reconciliation initiatives. Among speakers, I heard from the Queen of Belgium, the President of Italy, and the Pope! When I am not reading or writing, you can find me hiking, going to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, or hunting down a good film to watch.“
