Henry says: “I have been tutoring mathematics, writing, and standardized test topics professionally for 4+ years. I began during my time at the University of Texas at Dallas, where I worked for my school’s student center. There, I tutored math ranging from high school level Algebra and Calculus to undergraduate level Complex Analysis and Number Theory. I graduated with honors from UT with degrees in Statistical Mathematics and Economics in 2020. Afterwards, I worked as an ACT/SAT tutor while pursuing my master’s degree in development economics at Boston University. During my time there, I was fortunate enough to receive funding for my capstone research, which involved traveling to tribal areas in Northeastern India to study how differences in educational investment impacted economic development and women’s community leadership. As of May, I have just finished, graduating with the department award for academic achievement. I hope to begin a PhD soon, studying the relationship between global economic growth and education. My love for studying education academically bleeds in to my love of teaching and helping others learn. My teaching style emphasizes problem solving skills and encouraging critical and creative thinking. Whether it be tackling a complex integration, planning an outline for an academic essay, or implementing a test-taking strategy, I highlight core problem-solving skills, such as identifying goals and roadblocks, clearly organizing known and desired information, and recalling information through related applications rather than rote memorization. I currently live in the Allston area with my dog Watson.
