“When our tutor, Ihuoma, started, she came in with a calm demeanor, consistent limits, and welcoming attitude. She came and made a point to actually see our son.

In our first days with her it is easy to imagine our son was reserved and felt overwhelmed at the idea of a new academic adult in our home. Once he saw that she would wait, and that she was not going to yell or explode at him, he had no trouble working with her. She worked to keep him engaged. She was open when I offered rewards or ways to track his daily progress. Some worked, some didn’t, and she even brought math manipulatives to keep him engaged. The help and tutoring Ihuoma gave our son was priceless. She was always present and aware of his intelligence, person, and needs. Having our son experience a trustworthy adult after having to remove him from school was more than we could have ever dreamed of. As we head into this next step we are skeptically optimistic. Our son misses other kids and we hope this works out, if for some reason it does not, we hope we can have Ihuoma back in our home. She is truly welcome anytime. Thank you for sending her to us.” -H.K., Needham
