She has extensive experience working with students with a wide range of special needs, especially students with ASD. She is also certified to work with students who are Gifted and Talented, and she personalizes her approach to fit each student’s needs. She enjoys developing individualized materials so that each of her students are engaged in the tutoring process.

Janet says: “I began my career in Minnesota, first as a special education paraprofessional for several years, and then as a Science teacher in a very small (500 students k-12) rural school district for eleven years.  Teaching there taught me the value of developing close working relationships with both students and parents.  I developed the skills necessary to work one-on-one with students who needed assistance, and to foster a desire for learning in my students.

I then moved on to a large high school in Florida with almost 1000 students.  In my 16 years there I worked successfully with a highly diverse population of students from many different backgrounds and with varying ability levels.  I gained my certification for Gifted and Talented while in Florida.

I also taught a year of Zoom school during the pandemic, so I am well acquainted with online teaching should the need arise.

I am retired now, and have relocated to Massachusetts to be near family.  I am loving the environment and moderate climate here.”
