Matt has been teaching for over 8 years and tutors students in grades 2-8 in English, social studies, math and science. He prepares students for all sections of the ISEE and SSAT tests. He tutors students at all ability levels, and has extensive experience working with students with a wide range of special needs (including but not limited to ASD at all levels, ADHD, Down Syndrome, developmental delays, emotional and psychiatric needs, and speech impairments). He enjoys developing personalized materials to meet the specific needs of his students. He has served as a Reading Interventionist and is experienced in working with a wide range of curricula, including Wilson Reading methodology. He has also served as a Track & Field Coach.
Matt says: “I served as a Cross Country and Track athlete at Manhattanville College. I also served as a Captain of that team for my last two years there. After college, I pursued a career in Special Education and received my Masters in it. During my Masters program I worked as a Teachers Assistant, ABA therapist, and Track Coach. After obtaining my license in New York and working as an ELA teacher as well as a Reading Interventionist, I went on to get my teaching license for Moderate Disabilities (Grades 5-12) as well as History (1-12) in Massachusetts. I currently work at UP Academy Dorchester, and serve as a 5th Grade Special Education teacher and Cross Country coach.”
