Admissions Consulting Offers Huge Benefits to Students Beginning their College Experience

Four years ago, I was a senior in high school with no idea what path to go down next. Guidance Counselors were there for consulting, but I didn’t utilize the resources available to me. My parents didn’t go to college, so I was on my own during the planning process. I didn’t understand the importance of the services provided by the guidance counselors at my high school.

As a senior in college about to graduate and embark on the next step of my life, I am excited but also nervous. I look back and think about how different college would have been for me had I taken advantage of the services of the guidance counselors. I would have picked a school and major that were both a better fit for me to get the most out of my college years. I’m happy where I am now, but would have benefited enormously from having more support as a senior in high school.

There are numerous resources your child has available to them during the last year of high school as they begin to take the SAT and apply to college. Your child needs an opportunity to discuss everything from a testing schedule to applying for financial aid. Depending on the size of your child’s graduating class, though, each guidance counselor may be handling up to thirty other students.

The transition from high school to college was difficult for me, which is to be expected. However, additional guidance and admissions consulting would have greatly benefitted me. From choosing a college to picking a major, support from an admissions consultant is a reliable investment. Working with a one-on-one admissions counselor means that your child’s specific needs and interests will be supported on a much more personal level. Your child will enter college with more confidence, knowing they are about to embark on the next four years at the right school and earning a degree that will provide them with a bright future.
