.In our Summer Reading Series for 2019, we will be featuring the summer reading programs of public libraries in different towns from all over Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. Let’s take a look at the Pollard Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program in Lowell, A Universe of Stories.
Lowell’s Summer Reading Program begins on Monday, June 10th and will feature many fun events and activities. If you come to the library and check out books in Lowell, you are a winner! This summer, stop by the Lowell library any day between June 24th and August 9th and check out library books. You can check out any books you want. After you check out your books, stop by the Children’s Desk. Show the librarian your check out receipt and get a scratch ticket for a prize. Every ticket is a winner! Your scratch ticket also doubles as a raffle ticket for a raffle that is held at the end of Summer Reading in August. Come by as often as you like to check out books and get a scratch ticket but just once a day, please. Good luck and happy reading!

Two-day Lego Robotics & 3D Printing Camp – Monday, August 19th & Tuesday, August 20th (9:30 am—4:00 pm). Conducted by MC3D Robotics for ages 9 – 11 years. Requirements: Bring own lunch. Snacks provided. Learn how to program robots with Lego Mindstorms EV3, Understand the basics of 3D Printing, Design & Print your own objects. The MC3D Robotics team is comprised of high school students from neighboring towns who are highly passionate about STEM and STEM education. Many of them have participated in various Robotics competitions and have won several awards\ for their robots as well as social projects. Through our educational camps our goal is to sow the seed of passion for STEM into the next generation of innovators. Sign up required. (Limited to 12 participants) – Register with the library first either online at www.lowelllibrary.org/calendar or in-person. Parents will receive a registration form from MC3D Robotics with information about how the program will run. This form must be completed prior to camp. Attendees must attend camp both days. Registration opens August 5th.

Monday June 24th 7:00 pm – Summer Reading Program Kick-Off “Science Magic” with the Museum of Science. For children in grades K – 4 Sign up required and begins Monday, June 10th.
Weekly starting June 24th – Alien Hide & Seek. Each week our alien visitor hides in a different spot in the Children’s Department. Can you find our friend? If you do, you will be entered in a weekly raffle for a goodie bag. All children in grade 4 and younger are welcome to play.
Mondays starting July 1st 2:00pm – Out of this World Family Summer Movies. Calling all space invaders! Children of all ages and their families are invited to join us in viewing some blockbuster space themed movies. All movies are rated PG. No sign up is required.
Mondays July 15th & August 6th 10:30 am – Explorers Club Storytime. Are you a curious kid? Join us for a special storytime just for explorers. For children age 3 – 6 years. Sign up required and begins Monday, June 24th.
Thursday August 8th 11:00 am – STEAM Wars. Is the force with you? Children in grades K – 4 will test their Jedi powers in Star Wars STEAM activities and make a lightsaber craft. Sign up is required and begins Monday, June 24th.
