August Adventures with Highland Street Foundation
When: daily throughout the month of August

Cost: free
August Adventures returns! During the month of August 2023, we are excited to partner with special Massachusetts cultural institutions to provide one free activity each day for 31 days. Along with no-cost admission to zoos, museums and carousels, Out of the Park with the Boston Red Sox and City of Boston returns.
Yoga, Mindfulness Classes for Kids
When: Wednesday 8/2/23
Where: Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi – Riverwalk, Lawrence 290 Merrimack Street, Lawrence, MA
Age: kids
Cost: $5
These classes will provide tools and ways for the kids to deal better with the changes coming their way. We use fun, interactive and challenging games and exercises to help them draw out their inner potential and improve their focus, memory, confidence and manage their emotions. Each class starts with physical activities and has a specific theme that focuses on understanding the body-mind connection.
Boston Lights: A Lantern Experience at Franklin Park Zoo
When: Friday 8/4/23 through Sunday 10/29/23
Where: Franklin Park Zoo, Dorchester, MA
Age: all ages
Cost: children under 2 are free; otherwise $21-$23
Boston Lights will once again illuminate Franklin Park Zoo with sparkling new lantern additions, plus a few returning favorites! Experience the wonder of over 55 magnificent displays comprised of hundreds of beautifully crafted lanterns spanning Franklin Park Zoo’s 72 acres.
Mayor’s Summer Movie Nights in the Parks
When: various dates between between 8/8/23 and 8/29/23
Where: Boston, Dorchester, Roxbury
Age: kids, teens
Cost: free
In parks citywide, Bostonians can enjoy popular films under the night skies with this popular series. Mayor’s Movie Nights are part of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s ParkARTS program. They are held in August and September at Boston area parks, and shows begin at dusk. All shows start at dusk (approximately 8:00pm).
Boston Children’s Festival at Franklin Park
When: Tuesday 8/15/23
Where: Franklin Park, 25 Pierpont Road, Roxbury, MA
Age: kids, teens
Cost: free
Children and families throughout Boston have the opportunity to participate in a variety of free activities from various exhibitors. Join us for a day of fun with family-friendly activities!
Marshfield Fair 2023
When: Friday, August 18, 2023 – Sunday, August 27, 2023
Where: 140 Main St., Marshfield, MA
Age: all ages
Cost: $12; children 6 and under free
This yearly Agricultural Fair draws hundreds of competitors in 4-H, arts and crafts, agricultural and horticultural events. The Marshfield Agricultural and Horticultural Society, sponsors of the Marshfield Fair, is dedicated to making this the premier event of Southeastern Massachusetts.
Quincy August Moon Festival
When: Sunday 8/20/23
Where: Quincy Center, Coddington Street, Quincy, MA
Age: all ages
Cost: free
The Quincy August Moon Festival is a momentous holiday that celebrates the harvest and the moon as symbols of prosperity, happiness and unity in Asian culture. Festival attractions include: a sampling of traditional moon cakes; food vendors; exhibitors representing various countries; cultural performances on the main stage; activities for children; and entertainment for elders.
