Mike McDavid

Education:

Bachelor of Arts, English, Dartmouth College, 2015

Mike has been tutoring for over six years and works with students in grades five through 12 in all subject areas, including English Language Arts (including writing and grammar), literature, humanities (including US, European, and World History), Biology, Chemistry, and mathematics through pre-calculus. He has extensive experience working with students with a wide range of special needs and learning disabilities, including supporting students with executive functioning delays, attention disorders, and challenges with reading. He prepares students for all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, and ACT tests. He has taught high school English and drama at The Pennington School, where he also served as the assistant Director of Theater and an assistant football coach. He enjoys individualizing his instructional methods to meet the specific needs of his students.
Mike says: “I love working one-on-one because I’ve found that’s when the best learning happens. With the time to focus on one student, I can identify the way they learn best and then tailor my instruction accordingly. Working this way, I’ve been able to push my students to new heights, helping them achieve academic success they never thought possible. When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy being outside, hiking, mountain biking, and camping throughout the northeast. I relocated to Boston in 2021, and I am looking forward to getting to know the region.”
