Varun has been teaching for over 10 years in Math and Science, including Calculus (AB/BC, up to AP level), Algebra I & II, Geometry, Statistics, Trigonometry, middle school level Math, and Physics through AP level. He also supports students in the college and graduate school application process, completing essays and personal statements. He has taught at a wide range of academic institutions, including mentoring and lecturing undergraduate and graduate students in Math and Science. Additionally, he has extensive experience in test preparation, including the Math and Science sections of the ACT, MCAS, GRE, SAT, and SSAT.
Varun Kulkarni earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN) in 2013 after obtaining his MS in Aerospace Engineering and BE in Mechanical Engineering from India. He followed-up his PhD with a (cumulative) 8-year Postdoctoral research experience at Harvard University (Cambridge, MA), University of Illinois (Chicago, IL) and The George Washington University (Washington D.C.). He has over 18 published research articles to his name on a wide range of topics, which include oil spills, engineering surfaces for enhanced cooling of electronics, and engine fuel sprays, among others. His work has been highlighted by journals as their cover and Editor’s pick. Varun’s teaching style is centered around enabling students to become foundationally strong so that problem-solving comes naturally and becomes a fun activity. He is patient with his students, understands their needs and is committed fully to their success.
